 Frequently Asked Questions
  • Are the pools heated?
Yes, all the swimming pools are heated to a minimum of 26 degrees all summer long.

  • When is the best time to swim laps?
The best time to swim laps is early in the morning between 6:30am and 8:30am. Please keep in mind that the pool is substantially busier on hot days.

  • Do I have to watch my child's swimming lesson?
During swimming lessons you are not required to watch, but it is appreciated if you stay within sight of the lesson, in case your child needs you. Outside lessons you need to maintain active supervision of your child/children.

  • Do I have to pay if I'm not swimming?
Yes. When entering the Dickson Aquatic Centre you are expected to pay standard entry fee. This fee covers the provision, maintenance and staffing of the facilities such as the BBQs, the grounds, and change rooms.

  • What's the deal with the BBQ's?
The three BBQs are free but you cannot book them. Please be considerate to others and allow others to use it when you are finished cooking. To light a BBQ you will need to ask the on deck lifeguard for the firelighter.

  • Can we have birthday parties?
Yes but we do not provide food or games. Please ensure you arrive before the party time to talk to reception about payment options. There is no extra payment beyond the entry fee of the guests. You can either: 1.Provide a list of names for reception to mark off and pay at the end. Or 2. Buy a 20 swim pass and the children are clicked off as they enter (any unused swims can be used on your next visit).

  • Does the pool close when it rains?
No, the pool only closes when there is lightning in the vicinity for safety reasons.

  • Can I smoke at the pool?
No. Dickson Aquatic Centre is a public place and no smoking allowed in the grounds. If you need to smoke, you need to leave the grounds. Notify reception to get a stamp to allow you to return.
